Who doesn't love open roads, scenic vistas, and horsepower under foot? The Copperplate 1000 has provided a fortunate few the opportunity to drive the back roads of Arizona for over 20 years. This is one of my favorite events and it's right here in Arizona - my back yard. They consistently draw some fantastic cars (mostly from the west) and it's great fun to hear and see the cars under power. I've been dreaming of doing this event for many years - someday I'm going to. This year was a special treat to see Ed Mell's 1963 Buick Riviera running the event. This has given Dad and I the incentive to consider entering our 63 Riv - we'll see; I'm still working on Dad.
